First Parish Church United is an energetic church involved in outreach, social justice, education and fellowship activities. We support each other and we extend support to our local and extended communities. We’re centrally located on the Westford town common, next to the library, and our church is actively involved in the life of the town including the Strawberry Festival, Apple Blossom Parade, Farmer’s Market and much more.
Our church evolved from a merger of the Unitarian and Congregational churches 60 years ago. Today, our congregation gathers from Congregational and Unitarian backgrounds as well as a wide variety of other religious heritages. Many couples, reared in different faiths, join together in worship at our church.
In 2011 we officially earned the designation as Open and Affirming. We celebrate the lives of all people and their ways of expressing their love for each other. We strive to be a congregation that includes all persons, embracing differences of sexual orientation, gender and its expression, religious background, marital status, family structure, age, mental and physical health and ability, racial and cultural identity or background, and educational and socioeconomic status. We welcome all to share in the life, leadership, ministry, fellowship, worship, responsibilities, blessings and joys of our congregation’s life.
